Where we came from
Pay and bill needed to become its own product.
I'm Jamie. I started Najaxa.
My first job after college was payroll and HR. I ran payroll for a large, multi-state company. I got good at it, and then I got bored.
From there I joined a staffing software company. That put me on the vendor side of the middle and back office, and I saw a lot of front office systems. Every staffing firm ran a little differently. There was always a process that did not fit the standard path, or a client requirement we had to figure out. I liked that work.
I started Najaxa in 2018 because the industry asked. Firms needed help with the systems they had, and they needed someone who would stay. It began with $500 in a checking account and a services practice.
Then it was clear the back office ERP I had spent years supporting was going away. Dynamics GP was at the end of its life. Another ERP? There are plenty of those. I started thinking less about which ledger our customers would move to and more about what they would lose when they did. What they would lose was pay and bill.
A customer had already said it out loud. Build time entry that can capture the hours, convert them, and use them for pay and bill. I did not pursue it then. I did not think I knew enough yet. After enough time I could say it plainly. Everything I knew how to do in pay and bill needed to become its own product. That product is Najaxa Middle Office. We did not start with 25 timesheets. We started with 1,200 to 2,500.
Nate joined in 2021 and built the data practice. Jason leads the engineering team that builds Middle Office. We make it better one customer at a time.
We still work the way we started. Services first. Do we spend more than we should supporting you? Yes. Will that change? No.
You know where to find me.
